Camvol provides mutually beneficial placements and internships for UK students with think thanks, development and environmental NGOs in India.
The placements serve the needs of the host organisations in India as well as the work experience, cultural exchange and career development needs of students.
The objectives are to promote:
- an appreciation for working and communicating in different cultural contexts
- an awareness of the very different levels of socio-economic well-being in parts of the developing world
- an appreciation for the role (and limitations) of development work
- confidence building
- inter-personal skills
- problem solving and research skills.
The volunteering opportunities allow students to develop an understanding of the complex realities of development. Volunteers should seek to make a positive contribution to the on-going work of the host organisations.
